Financial abuse

Detecting and preventing financial abuse: an examination of decision-making by managers and professionals.

Project overview

Financial abuse was chosen as the subject of this study because it is often said to be one of the most prevalent forms of abuse, and yet has been one of the least studied.

Researching the role of health, social care and banking professionals in detection and intervention of financial abuse of older people was commissioned so that evidence based policies could be developed to support the decisions these professionals have to make in these situations.
