Collaboration with Canadian Institute for Health Research - Institute of Aging (CIHR-IA)

The New Dynamics of Ageing programme created an innovative research link with the Canadian Institute for Health Research. Canadian researchers bid for CIHR funds in order to join NDA projects as co-researchers.

In total, ten projects were funded:

  1. Interactive analysis of functional and cognitive change across the IALSA (canada) and HALCyon (UK) Longitudinal Research Networks - Scott Hofer, University of Victoria.

  1. Sustaining information technology use by older adults to promote autonomy and Independence: Newfoundland and Labrador Cohort - Wendy Young, Memorial University.

  1. Health and Creative aging: Theatre as a pathway to healthy aging - Janet Fast, University of Alberta.

  1. How do catastrophic events by modulating the immune response lead to frailty? - Tamas Fulop, Universite de Sherbrooke.

  1. Effects of normal and impaired cognitive function on stair descent mobility for older adults - Bradford McFadyen, Universitie laval.

  1. Working Late: Strategies to Enhance Productive and Healthy Environments for the Older Workforce – the Canadian Context - Lan Gien, Memorial University of Newfoundland.
